3D modeling and rendering of a new tutoring space. Commissioned by Michelle Young Interior Design.

  • TBD: Climbing Boulder

    TBD: Climbing Boulder

Another commissioned project by Tad Bradley Designs. For this installation proposal, Tad created a clay model of a sculptural climbing boulder to be placed at the center of a new park area, and had me create a 3D model and renderings based on the clay form. I also provided more detailed sections and drawings for…

  • Wine Rack

    Wine Rack

Another project using the beautiful fence boards salvaged from a homestead ranch. This time I designed and built a freestanding wine bar that was donated to a fundraiser auction. Once again, I took as many opportunities as I could to showcase the vibrant lichen that sat upon the edges of the bright, silvery boards.

  • Cribbage Set

    Cribbage Set

I made this cribbage board as a gift for my girlfriend (now my wife) after she learned how to play what I consider to be the official game of my family. It is the same dimensions as a deck of cards and uses magnets to store the pegs and lock together. 2016.

  • Incense Stands

    Incense Stands

Set of stands for burning incense. Concrete, wood, and glass.

  • Custom Door

    Custom Door

Interior hallway door commissioned by a couple friends for their new house. The wood and steel were salvaged locally from their family’s homestead ranch, which I was watching over. The lichen on the wood was so beautiful, I took extra consideration in the design to showcase as much of it as possible; then compliment it…

  • TBD: Installation Renderings

    TBD: Installation Renderings

3D modeling and rendering work, commissioned by Tad Bradley Designs. These images were made to accompany Tad’s proposal for a series of art installations at the new Utah School for the Deaf and Blind. His intervention included topographic panels, tactile arrays, and relief images; the 3D shapes were influenced by sound waves, visualized in what…

  • Barrel Planter Light

    Barrel Planter Light

This light fixture was made from the remains of a deteriorated barrel planter. The design and material selection was inspired by the quick, and often haphazard mechanical solutions that were seen around the ranch I was looking after.

  • Snow Fence Light

    Snow Fence Light

Built as a prototype, this lamp was an exploration with a very common material: old snow fencing.

  • Wood Objects: Simple

    Wood Objects: Simple

A selection of small woodworking projects done between 2009 and 2013. Decorative six-pack, made for a friend when they moved away. Restoration of a desk that was liberated from a decaying building. Using dyed resin, I repaired the surface and areas with major rotting; everything else was left as is. Custom framing for some of…

  • SolidWorks: Camera

    SolidWorks: Camera

As part of my journey in learning Solidworks, I re-created a unique enlargement camera that was given to me by a family friend. I had no prior experience with the software and was completely self-taught for this project.

  • Beam of Light

    Beam of Light

Sculptural light fixture made from recycled wood and cast resin.

  • Watercolor

    Watercolor

    Early watercolors 2007-2012.

  • Blown Glass

    Blown Glass

The results of my first few encounters with hot glass. I was also fortunate enough to observe and assist some incredible glass artists at the symposium. My time there was short, but the experience was life-changing. Northlands Glass, Lybster, Scotland.

  • Planar Intersection Tables

    Planar Intersection Tables

Digital design project done for practice.

  • Fused Glass: Divergent

    Fused Glass: Divergent

My final project for the graduate course in kiln-formed glass, taught by Tad Bradley. This piece is the manifestation of several techniques that I developed over the semester, and is inspired by my own experiences and discoveries during that time; specifically my own challenges related to ADHD. This diptych is titled “amongst things”; an accurate…

  • Developed Glass

    Developed Glass

Fused glass made during my graduate year; class instruction by Tad Bradley. These pieces were formed in order to explore several techniques that I discovered during my initial encounters with the material. I was instructed to ‘”try crazy and stupid things”, and had a lot of fun with it.

  • Fused Glass: Line Work

    Fused Glass: Line Work

This four-piece series is an early exploration in two fused glass techniques that I was investigating at the time: use of fiber paper, and candle-formed stringers. I originally started bending the glass stringers to simply keep them from rolling around before being fired, but found that I liked the way it looked as well, especially…

  • Lamp and Table

    Lamp and Table

Created using salvaged wood and steel that was dumped in a field.

  • First Glass: Thick Fire

    First Glass: Thick Fire

Initial experiments with thick-fired fused glass.

A selection of some early digital design projects done between 2007 and 2011. Part two: drip cube, glowing mushrooms.

  • Wine Cellar

    Wine Cellar

Wine cellar design and renderings done as an exercise, early 2010.

  • Practice Space

    Practice Space

This brief series of renderings was done as an exercise in parametric modeling. It is one of my earlier experiments with integrating scripted design within an architectural project. I used percentage inputs with a varying degree of randomness to place wood slats on the wall, which is backed with sound-absorbing material.

  • Early Digital Design I

    Early Digital Design I

A selection of some early digital design projects done between 2007 and 2011. Part one: cast resin benches, four-by-eight.
